ALAMEDA COUNTY EMPLOYEES PROVIDE NO COST IRS CERTIFIED TAX PREPARATION SERVICES

The Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA) is providing no cost IRS certified tax preparation assistance to low- and moderate-income taxpayers from January 20, 2016 to April 18, 2016.

Since 2002, SSA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) preparers have helped taxpayers to receive larger tax refunds by claiming the credits they have earned. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is provided to working families and single or married individuals. Additionally, families and individuals may be eligible for other credits. Individuals and households whose 2015 income was $54,000 or less qualify for the Federal EITC.  You are invited to have your taxes prepared at no cost by our qualified IRS-certified preparers.  Have your tax refund as quickly as 7 to 10 days.

Don't Pay Fees to get your returns completed or pay interest on refund loans. Let us prepare your taxes at NO COST and make sure you get the tax credits you have earned and the full refund you deserve.

Saving at Tax Time is as Easy as 1, 2, 3!  No matter how small, every cent counts when saving for an emergency or a financial goal.

  1. Bring your savings and checking account information to your tax preparation.
  2. Determine how much of your refund you want to save.
  3. Ask your tax preparer to split your refund into your two accounts:  savings and checking.

Check out this video to learn more about saving.

What's New This Season? California now offers its own Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for W-2 wage income earners starting with calendar year 2015 tax returns.  This credit is offered in addition to the existing federal EITC.  This credit is available to California households with wage earned income of $6,580 or less with no qualifying children; or, a maximum of $13,870 wage earned income if there are two or more qualifying children.  Important: income from self-employment cannot be used to qualify for this credit.  Visit one of our four no cost tax preparation sites to find out if you are eligible.  It's Your Money Get It!  Don't miss out!
